| Magnetic Radio COntrolled trolley for tank (shell and roof), and column thickness gauge survey | |||||
|
The Magnetic Crawler is a specially designed
trolley for gauging the thickness of tank, column and vertical plant shell
metal sheets in general, for which no scaffolding or ladders are required
since all survey-related operations can be carried out through a set of fully
controlled radio functions. ¨
Special
coupling liquid supplied according to operator's requirements. ¨
Ultrasound
probe thrust adjustable between a few grams and several kilograms. ¨
Ultrasound
probe 20° degree bi-directional rotation allowing safe coupling in all
conditions. Magnetic
Wheels Magnetic wheels let the trolley be moved from
the ground in vertical so that it can be positioned at different heights. Its position along the generating lines is
controlled by an encoder misuring the distance from the ground and from any
other previous positioning. The horizontal movement let the trolley be moved
to new generating lines, that can be ridden in opposite direction. A path can be followed so that the thickness
measurements can be made with no need for the trolley to be brought back to the
ground.
Technical
Notes There is no need to remove the protective
varnish to carry out measurements since calibration and point value compensation
are carried out beforehand. The overall error margin in system readings is
in the region of a few tenths of a millimetre. The radio control device operates without power
or control cables thus avoiding all associated problems such as bending,
breakage, coupling, voltage drops, etc.. The only cable still featured transmits
signals between the probe and the ultrasound digital equipment.
